The Concept of a Universal Question Object and its Possible Usage in Education

The high quality electronic tests and self tests should be an indispensable part of contemporary study materials. The described theory says that the items of electronic tests and self-tests are the electronic questions and then, every electronic question is generated from so called question object. Each question object belongs to one of the defined types. The highest element of the hierarchy is a universal question object. The main goal of the paper is to introduce a prepared formal description which should be independent of existing software. The author tries to solve the possible gap between the needs of education and the offer of various types of available software. Last part of the text brings an example of question object creation and settings in ToolBook II Instructor software.
